Janice Bronson MacDonald is a Life Member of the Canadian Kennel Club and TOKEN Permanently Registered has put four of our homebred dams into the Collie Club of Canada Archives as Registry of Merit Producers.
They are:
CH TOKEN' SUNNYGATE STAR ROMX
TOKEN' SUFFRAGETTE TT, ROMX
AM/CDN CH TOKEN'S PUTTIN' ON THE RITZ TT, HC, ROM
and our Homebred who produced and was managed by NORTHUIST Collies of Saskatchewan, see our page for "Reba" marked CONGRATULATIONS!! ; "Reba" also won the new ChP (Champion Producer) Title from Collie Club of Canada. Thank you to owner Elizabeth James and her Aunt Flora MacDonald for their work and contributions to this fine Breed. "Reba" is:
I try to avoid any negative comments to some of these wonderful others who are maybe not doing the best for the dogs in their care; and who are maybe using a few "fish stories" in their advertising.
PLEASE CHECK: It is not difficult to authenticate, by either telephone or copies of titles, if people are indeed producers of any sort of champions or other laurels.
Championship dogshows are not only a measure of the merit of the dogs, and whether or not they "conform" to the written breed standard >>>> but it is also a measure of the care that the dogs are given. They are expected to be in immaculate condition, well groomed, clean, well trained with no exhibition of timidity or fearfulness from perhaps not the best of care in their environments. People who are not using champion breeding stock >>>> there is likely a reason; and this is therefore a pretty good guideline when selecting your Breeder.
Another: health testing.
I speak only out of concern as there are currently some very bad situations going on in Collies.
You do not have to deal with these people. There are still viable breeder(s) in this country.
We offer free delivery into the Belleville, Kingston and Ottawa areas to service especially our repeat clients from over 30 years of wonderful, healthy, clean and well trained dogs going into satisified families in that area. And many referralls from breeders (in other breeds), handlers, teachers and trainers, judges and veterinarians. This is a family that is worth the wait. Please do not endorse some of the very poor quality breeding that is being done.
We have imported stud dogs from very reliable families for three generations in a row, after linebreeding for six generations on some very fine canadian and american dogs.
Collie Club of America Winners, Registry of Merit producing dogs. For Instance: this pedigree of our 2008 litter we have 11 Registry of Merits in four generations; and if you go back one more generation there is four more. and this is not from inbreeding repeatedly. We were breeding into these families before they achieved all of these laurels.
This is from importing from some of the finest lines on the continent and in the World. In the first four generations there is one CCA Best Opposite, a half brother to another CCA best of variety, sister to CCA Best Veteran repeatedly, the top sire (all breeds) united states, another multiple CCA Award of Merit winner and producer of top collies in both varieties year before last.
In the six generations prior we linebred on dogs in Top Collie positions in both countries, CCA winners, and top producers. Famous dogs of undeniable quality. And healthy, eyes certified, in the old days before optigen PRA testbred, painstaking care taken over all health issues and no exceptions.
Not to leave out, either, our own homebred four Registry of Merit "mommies",; which is a serious amount of work, dedication, proper upbringing and conditioning, and not to mention; EXPENSE. People who have not left their own backyard for, in some cases, decades >>>> do not deserve support of the conscientious pet buyer.
We gear our dogs toward pet homes. They are all leash trained (so that a Child can walk them is my guideline) before they are put for interviews for placements into suitable homes. They are used to grooming table, toe nails, brush and mist, bath and blow dry, from four weeks of age. When they quite likely don't need a bath yet >>> but to get them used to the procedure and to being handled. The vets all comment when doing work on my dogs how nice they are to handle and there is a reason for this.
This is totally reliable family and top quality dogs and PLEASE do not settle for less. It is worth the wait to bring a reliable viable enjoyable pup into your family to be a member for 10 - 15 enjoyable years.
IN OTHER WORDS: look before you leap.
There are some very sad things happening to this Breed in a lot of other places.
We cannot promise any puppies available until possibly this fall. If we say this time next year: >>> that we can be quite confident of with three young females growing out. And very fine "men" to court them.
The curious little sable female here needing direction to focus on the camera is "Ruby Shoes": Token's Ruby Slippers, and watch for she and her Person Marie in the Kingston area this summer.
The other three remain at home; sable male "Chip" (Token' Diamonds in the Rough); blue merle sister "Whisper", who has entries in now under two different names until we get a look at it and see which one we prefer (they were in ex. only at Sherbrooke and Iberville, and also the Specialties held at Gananoque. if you were in the vicinity I hope that you took an opportunity to meet them.)
Our little darling "Trinket" (Token's Trinket) was still in intensive care when these two month pics are taken, >>> but on our 2009 page you can see updated pictures of her enjoying the sunshine and growing right up alongside her littermates.
We are having a BLAST! with this long awaited litter and they are proving to be every bit worth the wait.
Hope to meet you soon; and Thanks for Stopping By.
You will be able to see these youngster in the maritimes and also a bit in ontario and quebec in this their puppy year. And "Papa" "colt" out to hopefully complete his couple of performance titles that he has qualifying scores on.
and we are off to teach a bit over the summer and perhaps do a full registration for a fall semester at Southbrook Town Hall. Please inquire.
