Janice first studied for competition in Edmonton with Virginia Cummings, .... after some introductory work with her local club in Belleville Ontario; her first competition training was done at Virginia's Western Canine Academy in the early 80's. With this instruction she trained her first 5 Collies, plus her Chessie Bay Retriever she had already trained for both CD and Working Certificate Retriever work (under Belleville Club's Instructor at the time, and the retriever work was done with Sportsman Show Blue Ribbon Winner Glen West, also of Belleville) --- she finished CD's on "Jesse & Ragtime", "jody" and "Luke" (Ch Token Glamour Boy and Token's Cabaret Ch Pt'd) went onto other Breeders and Hansen's Crystal Token (N/E), and Mossbank's Autumn Scout to pet homes.
Upon her return to Stirling, Ontario (1984) she began to teach for pet owners with great satisfaction from the community; under the logo "The Dogschool". She had her first Top Show Dog on campaign at this time: BIS/BISS CH TOKEN THE MAGICIAN CD. When Belleville Club hired the expert instructor Jean Bruce (Circa 1986), Janice attended classes and worked as instructor assist under Jean's supervision and finished CD's on "Wolf" and "Captain" at that time. The four Collies: "Jesse, Ragtime, Captain and Wolf" were part of the Belleville Club's Drill Team which practised weekly and did demo's at fairs and plazas on the weekends.
.... "Rachel" finished her C.D. shortly after working with our own students at the Kennel in Foxboro .... and again trained for both improved pet and companion and also for competition right up to Utility at our Kennel in Foxboro, with the Instruction of Betty McHugh, All Breed and Obedience Judge. From those classes resulted all professional trainers and High in Trial Dogs including one Golden who was in the Top Obedience Dogs shortly after.
Janice also worked with Jean and her Service Dogs of Canada with dogs for wheelchair clients. This is during her three years in the executive of that Club, as Recording and Corresponding Secretary. She also fulfilled most of her requirements towards her judging permit, but did not carry it through as she built the boarding kennel and was limited to travel.
Around this time Janice was starting the career of her second Top Show Dog, Am/Cdn Ch Token's Puttin' On the Ritz TT, HC, ROM. "Ritz" is dam to our Beloved "Fiddle", pictured.
Janice has finished over 50 CKC/AKC titles including four illustrious Registry of Merit Awards for Top Producers by the Collie Club of Canada, and 28 Ch's, 7 CD, as well as working and temperament tests.
Janice has studied conformation show handling under Brenda Roberts in Alta., Shelley McHugh and Robert Rowbotham in Belleville, and also Obedience with Quinte Dog Training; Mr and Mrs Rusty Logue, and the two Pat's at U Lov Canine in Kingston Ontario. While in S. Quebec in the past ('01 & '02) she studied with St Francis Club, who at that time had hired instructors for both conformation and obedience. These services are, unfortunately, no longer available in this area.
Please feel free to inquire to private or group classes with Janice and her happy worker Collies. To improve your relationship and communication with your pet. Man's Best Friend; they usually very much want to please their Human, but we need to help them to learn a language that they can understand.

"Fall Session"
The next Registration will not be until after Christmas now. Show Handling ongoing or one on one for Novice Obedience.
What happens at a Registration is we will give you demonstrations of what the exercises look like properly done, the purpose of the exercises, and the test sheet that you will be graded against at the completion.
We will be offering Beginner's Lever, basically for the Handler to learn the exercises, Novice, to get the dog steady and working off leash and away from the handler in a class situation, and also there will be an opportunity to do show handling, which is an excellent puppy kindergarten and where to start with a dog under a year of age.
This was at Sutton XCalibur Gymnasium, Thursday evening and Saturday morning >>> this session began on the 22nd and 24th of January 2009 and we have a six week course outline.
Come and watch the demonstrations >>> and if you are interested you may register at that time. We may be wintering in Springdale >>> or Sutton this year, that is sort of up in the air.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST: (709) 673-4927, tokencollies@live.com
We have terrible news !!! >>>> Our Head Instructor Assist has passed away, peacefull, October 2008. What a wonderful Boy he was. We are hopeful that his position can be successfully filled by his young protege, "Colt".
RATES: have had to go up, sorry. My costs have gone up plus the class sizes are going to have to go down. To accomodate this, I have to increase to $120 for a six week session. I will continue to offer the 50% discount for the second class to boost the membership for the CNCC, a show and trial hosting club that is being accredited in Central Newfoundland. We need both the memberships coming in and the hands for events. Also the Show Handling/Socialization can still be attended for $20/class, as that course doesn't have a "homework" regime.
LEVELS: Beginner's, Novice, or Handling
and we will now also be offering Rally Obedience, since our Beloved and Brilliant Instructor Assist: "Colt" has mastered his first level plus 2/3 of his second level titles in this field. He would love to share this exciting sport with his "School Buddies"!!
